Blood Donation Motivation for School Going Children

NJRC SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur organized one-day regional level training on Blood Donation. It was a quite distinct programme initiated by Red Cross Circles in the district. The ultimate target of the typical programme was to prepare blood donors for near future motivating school going children for Blood Donation as the supply of blood according to the soaring demand has remained always challenging everywhere. Forty students from different private and general schools of Bharatpur Municipality attended the training. The training facilitators were Dr. Bhojraj Adhikari, a senior consultant physician; Ramesh Kant Poudel, Chief of Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Chitwan; and Jit Chovi Rana, a laboratory assistant.

The training was divided in two sessions: opening session and training session. The opening session was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hari Prasad Neupane, the president of Nepal Red Cross Society, District Chapter, Chitwan. Addressing the function Mr. Poudel lauded the activities of NJRC SOS HGS and highlighted the importance of such trainings.

The Guest of Honour of the function and Senior Programme Officer of Red Cross Society, Chitwan, Jagannath Neupane said that such trainings could contribute to create responsible and humane man power to save the life of others with every drop of their blood.

The Patron of NJRC and school Principal Ganga B Gurung, in his welcome speech, briefed the humanitarian activities carried out by the Circle and clarified the main purpose of the training. He also urged the attendants of the training to learn something important and share with their peer groups.
Teacher Sponsor, Jagadish Dhakal thanked the District Chapter for the support and expected that the children would transform the knowledge into actions.

The programme chaired by the president of NJRC SOS HGS was compered   by Nepali teacher Mr. Laxman Bhandari.

The training session included interaction with the MD Doctor, screening of relevant documentaries and observation of blood cells. The observation of blood cells using microscopes in Biology Lab of the school was a new experience for the children.
The participants were handed the certificates of appreciation by the Patron of NJRC and School Principal, Ganga B Gurung for attending the training.
