Regional Disasters Management Training at SOS HGS

 NJRC, SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur organized one day training on Thursday with the ultimate end of creating awareness about the disasters management in the school going children. Forty students from twenty schools of Bharatpur Municipality attended the training. The attendants were trained by the disasters management experts Amrit Adhikari and Kalpana Karki.

The training was divided in two sessions: opening session and training session. The opening session was inaugurated by the chief guest, Ratna Prasad Sapkota, the member of working committee Red Cross Society, Chitwan and coordinator of District Training Unit.  Speaking at the programme, he applauded the activities of NJRC, SOS HGS and highlighted the importance of such trainings.

The Guest of Honour of the function and Programme Officer of Red Cross Society, Chitwan, Jagannath Neupane said that such trainings could contribute to create skilled and matured man power to manage any kinds of disasters i.e. reducing the effects of disasters before or after.

The Patron of NJRC and school Principal Ganga B Gurung, in his welcome speech, clarified the main purpose of the training and urged the students to gain knowledge about the right measures to be carried out pre, while and post the disasters and implement them in their lives.

Teacher Sponsor, Jagadish Dhakal thanked the District Chapter for the support and expected that the children would share the knowledge with their teachers and friends as they were the representatives of their schools.
Treasurer of NJRC, Ankita Paudel, in her welcome speech detailed the activities of NJRC SOS HGS.

The programme chaired by the president of NJRC SOS HGS was compered   by Nepali teacher Mr. Laxman Bhandari . The school orchestra headed by English teacher Shiva Sundar Shrestha welcomed the guests with a song filled with the meanings of seven principles of Red Cross.

Financial Help to the Flood Victims of Pakistan

In response to the general circular circulated by the Nepal Red Cross Society District Chapter Chitwan and keeping in mind the principle of Red Cross, ‘Universality’, NJRC SOS HGS Bharatpur helped financially to the victims of Pakistan Flood. A sum of Rs. 5196 was deposited on the bank account (NBL: 24-11-1845) provided by Nepal Red Cross Society District Chapter Chitwan. The amount was collected from the teachers and the students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur.

Financial Help to a Victim of Cancer

Being inspired by the motive shown by the Founder of Red Cross Society, Late Jean Henry Dunant,  NJRC SOS HGS Bharatpur helped financially to eleven months old Bibasta Koirala, a permanent resident of Mangalpur-4, Chitwan who has been suffering from stomach tumour. School Principal Mr. Ganga B Gurung handed a sum of Rs. 3860 to the parents of the child. The amount was collected from the teachers and the students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Bharatpur.

World Environment Day Observed

On account of World Environment Day, NJRC HGS Bharatpur organized a plantation and community sanitation programme on Saturday. All the teachers and students under the leadership of NJRC Teacher Sponsor, Mr. Jagadish Dhakal, planted some Ashoka saplings in school premises and launched sanitation campaign in the neighbouring community. During the campaign, the students of Grade VI to X rallied with placards that read Save the Earth, Keep the Environment Clean, Fight against Green House Effect, Save Wetlands etc. and covered a distance of about two kilometres.




The plantation programme was inaugurated by Nimesh Poudel, the President of SOS HGS Bharatpur by planting an Ashoka tree. The community sanitation campaign was applauded by the local people.

 

New Election of NJRC held in SOS HGS Bharatpur

A fresh election has elected a new working committee for NJRC on Friday amidst a special programme presided over by school Principal Mr. Ganga B Gurung. The election followed a week long registration and election compaigns. All the members of NJRC SOS Bharatpur i.e. students of grade six to ten actively took part in the election.

Among the ten candidates for the post of President and Vice President, five for each, Nimesh Poudel from grade ten and Samit Kumar Shrestha from grade nine have been elected respectively. Newly elected members were sworn by Election Commisner Kshitiz Pandey. Newly nominated members included Aaditya Pulami, Tara Timilsina, Anita Sharma, Bipul Poudel, Nischal Timilsina , Ganga G.C., Ankita Poudel, Binesh Subedi, Sandesh Poudel, Binita Sintang and Bashanta Poudel.




Addressing the special function Principal Mr. Ganga B Gurung highlighted the importance of such election programmes in school to cultivate democratic culture in students along with the lessons of election process.

The committee will be responsible for every humanitarian activity to be organised in school in its one year’s tenure.
